Tangier - Mrs. Sylvia Cory, 91, former resident of Tangier, died Thursday in Milwaukee General Hospital. A Parke County native, she was a daughter of William and Asenath Harvey Swaim and was born June 15, 1875. She married Claude Cory in 1899. He preceded her in death in 1960. Mrs. Cory was a member of the Friends Church. Survivors include two sons, Donald of Milwaukee and Airol of Fort Bragg, N.C., a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Air Force; a brother, Fred Swaim of New Albany; a sister, Mrs. Berniece Tombaugh of Clinton, and seven grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters of Mrs. Cory are deceased. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Rush Creek Cemetery near Tangier.

She was born June 15, 1875 in Parke County, Ind., the daughter of William and Asenath Narvey Swaim. She married Claude Corey in 1899. He died in 1960. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two sons, Donald of Milwaukee and Air Force Lt. Col. Airol Corey, retired; a brother, Fred Swaim of New Albany and Bernice Pombaugh of Clinton; seven grandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Woodrow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rush Creek Cemetery and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday.
